Breeo Zentro Fire Pit: A Durable Smokeless Solution

Today, we’re talking fire pits — and not just any fire pit, but the Breeo Zentro Fire Pit Insert, a heavy-duty, smoke-reducing beast designed to level-up your existing fire ring or DIY setup.

If you’ve been thinking about turning your backyard hangout into the kind of place where people gather, sip something cold, and say “dang, this is nice,” then keep reading. I’ve been testing out the Breeo Zentro and comparing it side-by-side with the ever-popular Solo Stove Bonfire, and let’s just say — not all smokeless fire pits are built the same.

Most people are familiar with Solo Stove due to their incredible digital marketing (that’s what sold me years ago) and they actually launched their portable stoves earlier. However, Breeo was actually the first to market with a smokeless stainless steel fire pit. When we were redoing our backyard I was originally going to go with another Solo Stove (Yukon), but then I discovered Breeo.

🔩 What is the Breeo Zentro Fire Pit Insert?

At its core, the Zentro Insert is a drop-in stainless steel or corten steel insert made to fit inside a masonry or stone fire pit. Breeo designed it with their patented smoke-reducing secondary combustion system, which pulls air through vents in the base and re-burns smoke at the top — a design that significantly cuts down on the “campfire fog” effect.

This isn’t a standalone fire pit like the Solo Stove — it’s made to upgrade what you already have or what you’re building. If you’ve got a block pit, a paver circle, or a DIY ring, the Zentro turns it into a high-performance, low-smoke experience. Just drop it in and light it up.

Similar to the Breeo Series X standalone fire pits, the Zentro also comes with the option to add accessories for grilling, rotisserie and even a brick oven pizza option. This to me was a big bonus.

🧱 My Setup & First Impressions

I’ve got a backyard setup with a circular paver fire pit, and the Zentro 24″ insert dropped in like it was made for it (because, well… it was). Breeo offers round and square models in different sizes, and they even help you pick the right one based on your pit’s internal diameter.

Right out of the box, this thing screams quality. We’re talking thick-gauge stainless or corten steel — heavy enough to stay put, but still manageable if you ever need to remove it for cleaning or adjusting. For the insert models, that is obviously not the idea and from what I have read, even Breeo’s portable models are much heavier than Solo Stove. So if portability is your primary concern it is definitely something you want to take in to consideration.

Even the lid that comes with the Zentro is amazingly solid. It is not meant to keep the pit water proof, but it definitely keeps most of the water out. I would recommend cleaning it out after the embers have cooled to prevent the ash from getting to wet between use.

First burn? Immediate improvement. Less smoke, better airflow, and a way hotter fire. You can tell the air system is doing work because the flames get that clean, aggressive swirl you’d normally only see on a high-end fire pit. Many reviews, some more scientific than others, agree that Breeo’s smokeless design is just a bit better than Solo Stove’s.

✅ Pros of the Breeo Zentro

  • Smokeless design actually works. Significantly less smoke than a traditional pit — no more stinging eyes or smelly clothes.
  • Fits your existing setup. Keeps your custom paver or stone ring intact while upgrading performance. Definitely measure before you buy.
  • Built like a tank. High-quality stainless or corten steel looks great and handles the heat.
  • Made in the USA. Solid craftsmanship and company reputation. They are built in Lancaster Pennsylvania, which isn’t too far from me so I am hoping to visit next time I am out that way.
  • Optional grill accessories. You can add a Breeo grilling post for a full backyard cooking setup. More to come on this in the future….

❌ Cons of the Breeo Zentro

  • Not “as” portable. Once it’s in place, you’re probably not moving the Zentro around — this is a permanent fixture kind of fire pit. As noted above though, their other models, like the Breeo Series X 19 are a direct competitor the Solo Stove Bonfire, however the 19 weights 47 lbs vs 36 for the Bonfire.
  • More expensive upfront. Between the insert and the masonry fire pit, it can be pricier than an all-in-one system.
  • Needs a compatible fire ring. You’ll either need an existing structure or build one to fit the Zentro. The Series X models are stand alone though so this only applies the Zentro specifically.

🔥 Breeo Zentro vs Solo Stove Bonfire: Which One’s Right for You?

Both of these fire pits are smokeless, but they’re built for different kinds of fire lovers.

My take:
If you’ve already got a backyard fire ring (or plan to build one), the Breeo Zentro is a serious upgrade that blends style with performance. It’s perfect for folks who host, chill with family, or just want that classic stone-pit vibe — minus the smoke.

On the other hand, the Solo Stove Bonfire is hard to beat for simplicity and mobility. It’s ideal for people who want a plug-and-play solution they can take camping or store in the garage.

Want smokeless AND permanent AND awesome grilling accessories? Go Breeo.
Want smokeless AND portable? Go Solo.

🛒 Final Thoughts

Breeo Zentro Fire Pit Insert: 9/10
This thing is built like it wants to outlive your grandchildren. The smoke reduction is excellent, and it looks amazing nestled inside a custom stone or paver pit. I docked a single point because it’s not portable, and the price might make you gulp once or twice before hitting “add to cart.”

Solo Stove Bonfire: 8/10
It’s portable, sleek, and equally impressive at keeping smoke down. But compared to the Breeo, it feels a little less “permanent centerpiece” and a little more “throw it in the truck for camping.” Great for flexibility, but not as visually striking in a fixed backyard setup.

The Breeo Zentro Fire Pit Insert is not just a fire pit — it’s an investment in your backyard. It turns a standard ring into a smoke-reducing centerpiece, and with corten steel aging beautifully over time, it’s only going to look better as it weathers.
