I finally pulled the trigger on the Sonos Move 2 (two of them actually)! It didn’t just meet my expectations, it leveled up my whole setup. I already two Sonos systems in the house. Check out my other reviews:
- Unlock Immersive Audio with Sonos Arc Ultra, Sub 4, Era 300
- Sonos Beam (Gen 2), Sub Mini and Sonos Play 1 (Gen 2) Surround System Review
The Move 2 is that sweet spot between a full-room speaker and portability and adding them to my main setup made everything sound more complete. Whether I’m using them solo or grouping them with the rest of the system, the audio feels richer, more balanced and just…MORE FULL.

I chose the Sonos Move 2 to fill in the gaps in my existing Sonos setup and bring high-quality sound to outdoor spaces without compromising performance. The improved stereo sound, longer 24-hour battery life and seamless integration with my existing system made it a clear upgrade. Even though it’s a bit pricey the sound quality, build quality and flexibility were worth it—especially for someone already deep in the Sonos ecosystem.
🎶 Sound Quality
Right away, you can hear the difference from the original Move. The stereo separation is a noticeable improvement—music feels more spacious and layered. The mids are punchier, and the highs feel more refined. Bass is tight and full, even outdoors. This thing can easily handle a backyard get-together without sounding strained. In fact, when I turn it up at night to really appreciate the sound my wife tells me to turn it down so I don’t disturb the neighbors.
I originally purchased on Move 2 to test out the quality and was thoroughly happy so I purchased a second one. I have them paired together in stereo and they really do sound great. Especially at night around the fire pit or just sitting on the deck. As you will read below, they also fill in the gap that was created when I removed some of the Play 1s from my living and dining room.
🔋 Battery & Portability

The battery life is impressive—around 24 hours on a full charge. That’s a huge jump from the original. The USB-C port makes charging flexible and the docking base makes grabbing them to take outside or putting them back a breeze (just drop them into the base). It’s still a bit heavy for long carries, but for around-the-house or patio use, it’s perfect.
📡 Connectivity
Bluetooth pairing is seamless, and I love the dual Wi-Fi/Bluetooth capability. I can start a podcast inside over Wi-Fi, then switch to Bluetooth and walk it outside without skipping a beat. However, I do have a Eero mesh network which provides amazing wi-fi coverage even in my backyard (read that review here).

💡 Integration with My System
This is where the Sonos Move 2 shines. When I group it with the Arc and Era 300s, the sound feels more immersive across the house. Whether it’s music while cooking, background audio during DIY projects around the house, it fills in the gaps that previously felt a bit flat. Everything sounds more balanced now, even at lower volumes.
Similar to what I mentioned in my Unlock Immersive Audio with Sonos Arc Ultra, Sub 4, Era 300 review, I appreciate having touch controls and voice control built-in. The touch controls are the same as on the Era 300, which allow you to easily pause / play / forward / remind songs and adjust the volume from either speaker. The built in Sonos and Alexa (after connection) voice controls work awesome, especially when the speakers aren’t right next to me when sitting around the fire put. Not to mention, it also allows me to control my outdoor lighting without having to go inside the house or fiddle with my phone.
🏡 Final Thoughts
The Sonos Move 2 was the perfect addition to my Sonos setup, giving me powerful, high-quality sound wherever I need it—inside or out. With improved stereo audio, all-day battery life, and seamless integration with my other Sonos speakers, it brought a noticeable upgrade in sound depth and flexibility. It’s a bit heavy and not cheap, but for the performance, durability, and convenience it delivers, it was absolutely worth the investment.
